The British Psychological Society is a registered charity which acts as the representative body for psychology and psychologists in the UK, and is responsible for the promotion of excellence and ethical practice in the science, education, and application of the discipline. We are recruiting an Editor for our highly respected Research Digest service.

For the past 20 years, we have digested the latest academic journal articles in psychology to engage and inform a large, diverse and international audience. The Research Digest is now an integrated part of The Psychologist website and app, has around 60,000 subscribers to the weekly email, and 100,000 Twitter followers. The occasional PsychCrunch podcast has had more than half a million downloads.

We want to build on this success, to reach increasing audiences and link effectively with Society strategy.

Your key responsibilities will be to lead a team in researching, writing, commissioning and editing material (a critical consideration of newly published, peer-reviewed studies in Psychology) for the Research Digest and sometimes The Psychologist; to drive the presentation and promotion of this material online and via multimedia channels; to strategise, in collaboration with the Managing Editor and both internal and external stakeholders, in order to ensure the Research Digest aligns with Society aims and priorities, generates income, and both adds and helps to communicate member value.

The ideal candidate will combine a strong background in Psychology with a demonstrable passion for communicating specialist information in an accessible way.

You will join our Psychologist Team, reporting to the Managing Editor, Dr Jon Sutton.

We offer a friendly, values led working culture with an excellent benefits package that includes:

  • Agile & flexible working
  • Generous leave entitlement
  • Occupational pension scheme
  • Cycle to work scheme / free eye care vouchers / Winter flu vaccinations
