Your path to becoming a psychologist can start at any point. Some begin their journey at school, or at college, while others don't start until university. But whatever level you're at, we aim to provide you with all the information (and inspiration) to help you on your way.

Whether you're new to the job market, or looking for a change of career, there are many options available to you in the field of psychology. But finding the right one isn't always easy, so this page aims to provide some helpful insight and guidance about the many different roles in the domains of psychology and the wider psychological workforce.

Postgraduate study may be required to qualify for some roles in psychology, or there may be areas where you might want to develop your knowledge further. On this page you'll find advice about how to find the right course for you, including information about undertaking one of our accredited conversion courses.

This route has been developed to ensure that coaching psychology practitioners who meet the level 8 standards to gain chartered membership for the BPS through their professional training and practice have the opportunity to do so.

The term Wider Psychological Workforce refers to a number of psychological practitioners roles that are not-regulated by law. Some of these roles do not require a psychology degree, while others will supplement your main career as a psychologist.
