The conference was incredibly popular, with 184 attendees on the day who visited us from a range of North East schools, colleges and universities, creating a real buzz in the venue.
This free conference was designed to give college students, undergraduates and individuals considering a future in psychology the opportunity to learn about different areas of psychology, and different career paths related to psychology. Attendees welcomed the careers guidance embedded within the day stating that they "appreciated how they [the speakers] discussed how to get into that career and the specific career paths".
Our speakers delivered fascinating talks on a range of topics and areas within psychology, including health, forensic, occupational, developmental, educational, and clinical psychology, and there were reflections from an early career researcher.
Attendees said they "found all of the talks interesting and engaging". In fact, the conference was incredibly well received. Of the attendees who completed the event evaluation, 97 per cent rated the conference as either excellent or very good, and free text responses expressed that they enjoyed the variety of speakers, speaker stories, the networking opportunity, learning about different areas of psychology and learning about different career paths.
We'd like to thank all the speakers for giving these budding psychologists such a fantastic experience, and of course thank the BPS North East Branch for the opportunity to host their first Student Connections Conference. Hopefully the first of many!
