Community Psychology Section elects new chair

We’re delighted to announce that Dr Meltem Osman has been elected as chair of the Community Psychology Section.

She'll serve as chair for three years and lead the Section's committee as they deliver an exciting range of activities and events, including the Section's flagship Community Psychology Festival.

Meltem is a clinical psychologist and systemic practitioner working in Norfolk. She's passionate about working creatively and systemically with professionals, children, families, and the communities and networks around them. Meltem delivers teaching on critical psychology and community psychology at the University of East Anglia and University of Plymouth.

On receiving the news of her election, Meltem said:

"Community psychology and critical psychology communities have felt like a safe haven for me as a clinical psychologist. As chair, I want to continue championing this Section and its members, as others have done for me, keeping up my hope that change is possible. 

"I believe wholeheartedly in the importance of continuing to advocate for our ideas and values as community psychologists through creating opportunities for us to connect and collaborate, and have brave and passionate conversations within the Section and beyond."
