The Social Media Lead is a role within the Political Psychology committee, responsible for orchestrating the network’s presence on social media, engaging new and existing members to promote an active online community.

The Social Media Lead is responsible for orchestrating the network's presence on social media, engaging new and existing members to promote an active online community.

Your role is to communicate the values and incentives of your network through the delivery of engaging campaigns across a variety of social media platforms.

As Social Media Lead, you will be the designated Social Media Marketer for your network's events and opportunities, and will be responsible for sharing the latest research and updates to your online community.

Most importantly, you will be passionate about communicating and promoting the work of your network, with previous experience of navigating and maintainging social media channels.

Term:

1 year if co-opted, or 3 years when elected at the AGM.

Accountability:

The Social Media Lead is accountable to the Society, the MN Committee they serve and its members.

It is a duty of the Social Media Lead to ensure that they are familiar with their networks social platforms, and to commit to the ongoing promotion of network activity via these channels.

Activities:
  1. Collecting and creating engaging content for social media channels
  2. Working with the BPS Communications Officer to make sure all communications are correctly branded, and in line with the BPS brand guidelines and visual style guide.
  3. Creating content plans and event promotion strategies to implement on social media
  4. Responding to social media queries and connecting with engaged followers online
  5. Proactively sharing ideas for potential social media features with the committee
  6. Engaging with members to support new BPS campaigns and initiatives where relevant
Knowledge, skills & experience
  • Clear and engaging communication style
  • Experience of marketing on social media, eg. Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn
  • An understanding of visual branding and brand messaging to adhere to BPS guidelines
  • A passion for communicating and promoting the work of your network and profession
  • Have an interest in, or experience of, creating content for social media and digital platforms
  • Be well connected within your committee and network – you'll know just the person to speak to for an expert opinion on a certain area of practice or issue. If not, you know someone who would!
