Member Survey
Your voice matters. See what members are saying, how we're responding, and the changes we're making to improve your membership experience.
Since April 2023, we've been conducting a regular Member Survey to gather your insights on how we're performing and where we can improve your membership experience.
Explore more about the survey, view the latest results, and discover how we're using your feedback to make meaningful improvements.
We launched our regular Member Survey to get your feedback on how we're doing and what we could do to improve your membership experience.
It is designed to continually gather feedback on members' overall views and quickly identify trends and areas for improvement. It is comprised of the following three elements:
- New joiner survey: Sent to all new members 1 day after joining, this survey asks new members about the application experience and what they hope to gain from their membership.
- Current member survey: Sent out to all current members on a quarterly basis, with members randomly assigned to a specific quarter. Each wave includes a set of core questions, with the option to include a short set of bespoke questions which can change for every wave.
- Recent leaver survey: Sent 67 days after leaving the BPS, this survey asks why members decided to leave the BPS and if there was anything we could have done differently.
We may compare survey responses with other member data, such as membership grade, to ensure the results reflect the diverse views of our entire membership. This helps us gain deeper insights into the different experiences and perspectives within our community.
Any findings shared will be in aggregate, so no individual responses are identified.
Check out the results tab and discover how we're using your feedback to make improvements in the other tabs.
Your input drives our progress!

The Member Survey is a regular online survey designed to gather feedback on members' overall views of BPS and identify areas for improvement. Launched in April 2023, it ran on a monthly basis throughout 2023 until moving to quarterly basis in 2024. It is comprised of the following three elements:
- New joiners: Sent to all new members 1 day after joining
- Current members: Sent out to all current members on a quarterly basis, with members randomly assigned to a specific quarter. Each wave includes a set of core questions, with the option to include a short set of bespoke questions which can change for every wave.
- Recent Leavers: Sent 67 days after leaving the BPS
Survey responses may be compared with other member data, such as membership grade and age, to ensure the survey's representativeness and to better understand different member perspectives.
Any findings shared will be aggregated and no respondent will be identifiable.
Why have I been sent this survey?
You've received this survey because you are either a current member, a recent joiner, or someone who has recently left BPS membership. We value your feedback and want to understand how we can improve our services for members.
All current members will be invited to complete the survey at least once throughout the year, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to share their views on the BPS.
What will taking part involve?
You'll be asked to complete a brief online survey, which will take just a few minutes of your time.
Participation is entirely voluntary, and your responses will help us improve the membership experience.
Will I be sent reminders to take part in the survey?
If you don't open the initial survey invitation, you'll receive a reminder email one week later.
If you still haven't responded, you may receive a final reminder a couple of weeks after that.
After the final reminder, no further follow-ups will be sent.
Will I see the results from this survey?
Yes, we're committed to sharing the survey results and the actions we're taking based on your feedback.
You can view the latest insights and results under the "Results" tab on this page, along with the "You Said, We Did" section that outlines the steps we're taking in response to your input.
Will taking part be kept confidential?
The answers you provide in the survey will be kept confidential, and no identifiable information will be shared outside of the BPS.
Information about how we use personal information can be found in our Privacy Policy.
I haven’t received a survey invitation, but others I know have – why is this?
We randomly select the sample of current members to invite to participate in each survey wave. So it's possible you weren't selected this time and will be selected for a future survey wave.
Additionally, we can only invite members who have opted in to receive email communications by checking the "Please send me information by email" box in your MyBPS email preferences. If you haven't selected this option, you won't receive the survey invitation.
You can update your email and marketing preferences at any time to ensure you receive future survey invitations and other updates. Follow the link below to check your preferences are up to date:
The survey is being run online. What about members who are not online or do not have an email address?
We've chosen an online survey format because it's a cost-effective way to reach a large number of our members.
While most of our members have email addresses, we understand that some may not or may prefer to complete the survey through other methods, such as by phone or on paper.
However, alternative methods like telephone or postal surveys can be time-consuming and costly, which is why we're not offering them at this time. We continually assess our processes and may consider these options in the future if needed.
Can I opt out or withdraw from the study?
Participation in the survey is entirely voluntary. You can choose not to respond, or opt out of receiving future survey invitations by updating your email preferences in MyBPS or unsubscribing from all BPS emails.
Follow the link below to check your preferences are up to date:
Access MyBPS and update your preferences.
If you've already completed the survey and wish to withdraw your data, you can do so until the survey responses are aggregated for analysis and reporting.
