Parkinson's disease (Parkinson's, or PD) is one of the fastest growing neurological conditions, with a range of both motor and non-motor symptoms, which significantly impact upon the lives of those living with the condition.

Given the complex and multifaceted nature of the condition, we have proposed a matched care framework, recognising the need for multiple psychological support services to work together to support the individual and their family across the course of the condition.

Practitioner psychologists will have a key role in providing specialist assessment and intervention, as well as overseeing the management of pathways, training and supervision.

We have reviewed the current evidence base and practice in assessment, formulation and intervention with people with Parkinson's, and suggestions are made here to support specialist assessment and intervention.
