About
Basic psychological needs drive our behaviour and affect well-being, satisfaction, and performance.
Thus, it is essential to understand the basic psychological needs of a coaching client and how to support these needs as a coach.
In this talk, basic psychological needs as the core of our motivation, behaviour, and satisfaction will be analysed in a coaching setting compared to similar settings (e.g., a training setting).
In a further step, the possible need for supportive behaviours, such as empathy and trust, will be considered.
In addition, we will dive more deeply into what kind of actual behaviour is important: For instance, both empathy and trustworthiness can be shown in many different ways.
This talk will also encourage a discussion on other possible need supporting behaviours.
At the end of this presentation you will have:
- Reflected on basic psychological needs and their fulfilment in the coaching setting
- Gained insight into and discussed how these needs can be supported by the coach
- Broadened your understanding of how to show empathy and trustworthiness
