This webinar will describe the science of sleep, the impact that neurodiversity can have on sleep organisation, quantity and quality and the importance of optimising sleep to enhance activities of daily living.

Sleep disturbances in neurodiversity are common and exacerbate the challenges of activities of daily living.  A knowledge of managing sleep problems in this group is important for psychologists in order to enhance their practice and optimise their treatment outcomes.

Target Audience

  • All psychologists working with clients who have experience of neurodiversity will benefit from this training.
  • The webinar is suitable for those working in psychological roles at all career stages.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the webinar participants will be able to:

  • Explain the science of sleep and how different sleep stages are relevant to the experience of neurodiversity
  • Introduce the insomnias and parasomnias which are commonly seen in people who are living with neurodiversity
  • Identify appropriate treatment approaches for these clients
  • Explain the significance of sleep quality in this group and be able to apply evidence-based interventions to assist their neurodiverse clients
