Have you had a rupture in therapy? Do you wonder how best to work with them?
Do you still get cold sweats when you think about that rupture?
How good are you at spotting micro ruptures?
Are you interested in learning more about a pan-theoretical model which helps you to identify potential and actual ruptures and draws on CAT concepts to help with understanding and working with ruptures and potential ruptures?
We are offering a day to explore rupture, how to spot it, how to work with it and what benefits can accrue if you successfully resolve a rupture. The day will offer a theoretical understanding of why ruptures might occur and also offer some possible ways to identify potential ruptures as well as ways to work with them. The day will be experiential, giving you opportunities to explore ruptures and practice working with them whilst also managing your own emotional response to them.
Aims of the day:
• To offer a theoretical understanding of ruptures
• To increase awareness of when ruptures may happen
• To increase skills in naming potential and actual ruptures
• To have a model to guide what you do when a rupture has occurred
• To help awareness to ensure that anxiety and shame can be managed within sessions
• To be fun and enjoyable.
Run by Christine Laking, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, CAT therapist and CAT supervisor & Jeannette McLoughlin, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, CAT therapist and CAT supervisor
