The BPS Obesity and Bariatric SIG is a network of psychological professionals working in the area of obesity and weight management. As such, we know the many challenges that professionals can face when advocating for increased psychological provision in this area, and the disparity in psychological support that can occur between weight management services.

During this session, we will hear from several experts in the field of weight management and service commissioning. We hope to offer an engaging and informative afternoon that will support professionals working in the area of obesity and weight management to better understand the commissioning landscape, and to build confidence in constructing a business case for establishing or increasing psychological provision.

We hope to address many of the common questions that may arise including: Why is commissioning important? How are services commissioned? What role do I play in service commissioning? How do I build a business case for psychology in a weight management setting?

Ultimately, we hope that this session provides the opportunity for us to learn from each other and generate practical change in weight management settings. We hope you can join us!
