Coaching Psychology Accelerated Route

The Accelerated route is an abbreviated version of the full Professional Recognition route.

The Accelerated Route is available for members who hold GBC and who are already able to demonstrate five years full time (or part-time equivalent) experience as a coaching psychologist, including at least three years since achieving GBC.

Candidates will be required to submit a reduced portfolio demonstrating alignment with the top-level standards in the Level 8 Standards in Coaching Psychology and specific second-tier standards that address ethical autonomous practice.

Successful applicants will achieve both Chartered Member status of the society and full Divisional membership of the Division of Coaching Psychology.

They will also be eligible to apply to join the Register of Coaching Psychologists.

In order to enroll on the Accelerated route, you must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • have the Graduate Basis for Chartered membership (GBC), and
  • have completed at least three years full time, or an equivalent period if part-time, of study and or practice in psychology since the date of completing the qualification that conferred GBC, or since the date of becoming eligible for GBC through another route as confirmed by the Society, and
  • be able to demonstrate a minimum of five years full time (or part-time equivalent) experience developing their competence towards recognition as a coaching psychologist, and
  • completed at least 8 supervision sessions (a minimum of 1 hour per session) in the past 2 years with a Chartered Psychologist who is on the Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors (RAPPS), with at least 6 of those sessions being with a RAPPS supervisor who is a Chartered Coaching Psychologist
  • hold current, relevant, professional indemnity insurance (or be covered by an employer's provision).

The route has been open now for more than a year and we have learned much about how best to support candidates to be able to demonstrate that they meet the Level 8 Standards for Coaching Psychology. We have updated processes to give candidates their best chance of demonstrating competence and we describe these in the new Accelerated Route guidelines.
