The British Psychological Society, in partnership with Wiley, will introduce a new open access journal, called Environmental Psychology Research, publishing exciting updates from a psychological perspective on the complex interactions between human activities and the environment.
The journal will provide a home for innovative, multidisciplinary and international research on people and their natural and built surroundings—spanning topics from urban design and sustainability to virtual spaces and disaster response.
The journal has a strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, aspiring to lead the field on environmental justice and intervention strategies that deliver wide-ranging environmental and social benefits. This means that we will be inviting both traditional academic research and non-traditional contributions, and actively seeking contributions from the Global South.
We're delighted to introduce our Editors-in-Chief: Lorraine Whitmarsh (University of Bath, United Kingdom) and John Jamir Benzon Aruta (De La Salle University, Philippines), both of whom bring deep expertise and passion for advancing the field of environmental psychology.
Professor Whitmarsh says of the journal:
"We're excited to be launching Environmental Psychology Research to showcase the incredible richness of the field and the real-world benefits it offers, and because we believe the environmental psychology community needs a journal that demonstrates a genuine commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. In particular, we welcome qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods contributions, and perspectives from academics and non-academics from around the world on human-environment interactions."
Help us shape the next chapter in environmental psychology. The editors are currently recruiting Associate Editors and Editorial Board Members and would love to hear from potential applicants. Visit Environmental Psychology Research or email [email protected] for more information.
