Recruitment open for Climate and Environmental Action Coordinating Group

Recruitment is open for the BPS's new Climate and Environmental Action Coordinating Group (CEAC).

12 December 2022

By BPS Communications

The group will coordinate and support the work of networks, divisions and sections, it's clear that here has never been more of an urgent need for the world’s nations to come together in achieving climate and environmental goals and actions to make the world we live in more environmentally friendly to all.

We have already seen an increase in the earth's temperature by approximately 1.15 °C above the 1850-1900 pre-industrial average, with experts warning that if we reach up to an increase of 1.8 degrees Celsius, half of the world’s population could be exposed to “life-threatening heat and humidity”.

Over the past six months, the BPS has been working with its members to create the new group which will focus on:

  • Climate and environmental health and wellbeing.
  • Coordinating and supporting the work of networks, divisions and branches.
  • Behavioural, political and social change.
  • Education and awareness inside the profession and external to the profession.
  • The interface between policy, public affairs and engagement.
  • The interface between climate change, human rights and inequality

Recruitment is now open to all members, if you are interested please apply now

The group will be inclusive of all nations by working with BPS networks, divisions and sections in exploring the interface between climate and environment in research and practice. The group will support and advise on the implementation of effective climate change and environment work rooted in psychological evidence and will champion the values of the society as a learned society responsible for the development, promotion and application of psychology for the public good.
