Society signs Memorandum of Understanding with our Portuguese counterparts

04 May 2018

Our President Nicola Gale signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Francisco Rodrigues the President of our equivalent organisation in Portugal, Ordem dos Psicólogos Portugueses (OPP) at our annual conference yesterday evening.

Through the memorandum the two societies commit themselves to work together to:

  • develop reciprocal access arrangements to research for their members
  • develop work exchange programmes and other experiential learning opportunities
  • organise collaborative events
  • share best practice
  • provide grants to encourage collaboration

Nicola Gale says:

“I am delighted to sign this Memorandum of Understanding with the OPP and The British Psychological Society looks forward to working closely with them over the coming years.

Whatever the future holds politically, as members of the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations we are committed to widening and deepening our relations with our fellow psychologists and psychology societies across Europe.”

Francisco Rodrigues said:

“The United Kingdom is our oldest ally and the European country where more Portuguese psychologists work than anywhere except Portugal.

The British Psychologist Society, the Portuguese Psychologists’ Association and their members’ work can be empowered by a closer relationship and through sharing our knowledge and practice.”
