Society agrees investment policy with strong ethical element

12 November 2018

The British Psychological Society’s Trustees agreed a revised investment policy at their recent meeting.

It is designed to ensure the prudent investment of Society funds to provide income for our current activities and maximise income and capital growth for the future.

The revised policy contains a strong commitment to investing Society funds in a responsible way. In particular, the Society will not invest in companies involved in:

  • the manufacture and sale of tobacco products or alcohol
  • the fur trade
  • pornography
  • gambling
  • the manufacture and sale of armaments to oppressive regimes
  • institutional violations of human rights, including the exploitation of the workforce
  • fossil fuel extraction
  • predatory lending or aggressive tax avoidance
