Notice of Annual General Meeting 2021

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of The British Psychological Society, to which all members are invited, is to be held on Monday 26 July 2021.

This year, as last year, in the light of Covid-19, the AGM will take place by a Zoom teleconference.

Date & time: Monday 26 July 2021 at 17:00–18:30

Place of meeting: By ZOOM teleconference facilities.

1, Welcome from the Chair of the Board of Trustees

2, Approval of minutes of previous meeting held on 12 January 2021

3. Introductory remarks from the Deputy Chief Executive

4. Election of Honorary Fellows

5. Election of Honorary Life Members

6. Declaration of Officers and Trustees of the society

  1. President Elect 2021/22 (who will be President 2022/23)
  2. President for 2021/22
  3. Honorary General Secretary
  4. 2 Co-opted members
  5. Ordinary Member of Research Board

7 (a). To receive the Trustees' Annual Report and Consolidated Financial Statements and Independent Auditor’s report for the year ended 31st December 2020*

7 (b). To re-appoint Mazars as auditor of the society.

8. To consider and if thought fit to approve the following resolutions:*

Resolution 1

That the Special Group in Coaching Psychology now becomes the Division of Coaching Psychology..

Resolution 2

That the following membership criteria for the new Division, be adopted as follows:

Full membership:

  • Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) and completion of an accredited MSc in Coaching Psychology followed by Stage 2 training to be confirmed (e.g. supervised experience/society qualification); or
  • GBC and assessment of a portfolio of professional practice against Standards for Chartership as a Coaching Psychologist; or
  • completion of a non-accredited research PhD identifiable as being based in Coaching Psychology post GBC

In training divisional membership:

  • For psychologists in-training who hold Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership and are working towards Chartered status and Full Divisional membership.

General divisional membership:

  • For members of the society who are not currently eligible for the above grades, to join as a General Member.

NOTE: a vote will be taken at the meeting in respect of Agenda item 7(b) and the Resolutions set out under Agenda Item 8.  Full details of how members may vote at the meeting will be published on the Society’s website.

*Further information supporting the Resolutions together with the Trustees Annual Report and Consolidated financial Statements and Independent Auditors report for the year ended 31 December 2020 will be published on the society’s website on or before 8 July 2021.
