New BPS advice on supporting teachers’ resilience during school closures

08 April 2020

Teachers must not think that seeking help is a sign of weakness, says new advice on supporting their resilience from the BPS.

Written by members of the society’s Division of Educational and Child Psychology, it says looking for help is particularly important at this challenging time of different and stressful experiences for teachers in schools.

The advice highlights the resilience teachers are showing in their work every day. It says the trait can be fostered by supportive environments that encourage good working relationships. Giving help to others can also boost teachers’ resilience.

This advice will be useful to teachers and to senior leaders in schools who want to know how to promote and foster teachers' resilience.
