The Economic and Social Research Council is recruiting for new members of four Grant Assessment Panels (GAPs), which make funding recommendations for research grants.
Academic panel members appraise proposals submitted under the ESRC’s responsive mode schemes, and score them through a combination of evaluating peer review comments and their own expertise.
There are also vacancies for user panel members, who participate in panel discussions and comment on proposals but do not formally score them.
Membership of the panels is primarily academic, but each has a number of user members. Appointments are made for two years initially, with the possibility of renewal for a further term.
Panel A includes psychology, and meets three times a year in March, July and November.
The ESRC is one of seven research councils in the UK, and provides funding and support in the social sciences and economics.
