Help us to influence government policy

01 February 2019

The BPS is looking for a dynamic professional who knows how to influence change to chair its new Public Policy Board.

The board has been set up to take psychological evidence to the heart of government and secure lasting change in public policy. Its new chair, who will also become a member of the Board of Trustees, will have experience of using scientific evidence to achieve political change and understand how policymaking works across the four nations of the UK.

Kathryn Scott, the Society’s policy director said:

“We are looking for a mover and shaker in the policy field. Someone with the ability to cut through jargon and clearly articulate Society recommendations, whether in a tweet, a briefing to a journalist or in front of a parliamentary committee.

As well as being vital to the Society’s work, this role will be fascinating and a great opportunity for personal and professional development.”

You can find a full person specification and details of how to apply on the Society website.

We actively encourage applications from members of the Society from diverse backgrounds.

If you would like an informal talk about the role with the Society’s Director of Policy before applying, please email Emma Smith at the Society’s office to arrange a conversation.

The closing date for applications is 11 February 2019.
