EAWOP 2022 Congress cancelled

09 December 2021

It is with deep regret we confirm the cancellation of the society supported EAWOP 2022 Congress that was to be held in Glasgow in January.

Along with EAWOP, the society recognises the disappointment this may cause, as it was an opportunity for first time face-to-face event of this type in nearly two years.

Following ongoing developments relating to the Omicron variant, the increasing concerns in relation to travel and testing regimes internationally and most of all the potential serious implications relating to delegate health and wellbeing, EAWOP have taken the difficult decision to cancel this popular event.

We know how hugely disappointing this will be for the 1,300 delegates already registered and to those who were intending to present their work. The programme promised to be exciting and extensive.

Despite every effort of EAWOP, the local organising committee, the society team and the wider team of volunteers, it became clear that we were no longer able to safely deliver what we believe would have been an exceptional event.

We thank everyone who worked so hard to create such an exciting congress – speakers, workshop leaders, those who submitted and those who helped with reviewing.

We also thank our sponsors, including the City of Glasgow, Visit Scotland and the volunteer and professional organisers for their time and energy developing the congress.  We know this difficult decision will cause them huge disappointment after so much hard work.

EAWOP will now work on reimbursing all registration payments in January. For more information please visit the EAWOP 2022 Congress website
