(Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport) Social value in government procurement

09 April 2019

The UK government is consulting on how they should take account of social value in the award of central government contracts.

Procuring authorities would determine whether they use any of the proposed themes or policy outcomes, and these include proposals on disability, gender pay balance and mental health and wellbeing, amongst others.

It is also proposed that there would be a minimum 10% weighting for evaluating social value in bids.

The requirements proposed will apply to all Central Government Departments, their executive agencies and Non-Departmental Public Bodies when undertaking procurements, and the BPS is looking to make a strong response to this consultation, as determined/informed by the contributions of our members.
