Former BPS President Nicola Gale was elected as the new treasurer of the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA) at its General Assembly in Moscow last week.
As treasurer she becomes one of EFPA’s two vice presidents and serves on its Executive Council, which is the Board of EFPA.
Nicola Gale has a breadth of experience as a psychologist, including in the NHS and postgraduate teaching, and earlier in her career held senior roles in financial accounting, consulting and human resources development.
Nicola Gale said:
"I am delighted to have been elected Treasurer of EFPA and honoured by the confidence my colleagues across Europe have shown in supporting me for this role.
EFPA is central to the advancement of psychology across Europe, and it is of significant importance to UK psychology at this time to remain connected to our European partners. I look forward to serving in this role."
Sarb Bajwa, chief executive of the BPS, said:
“I congratulate Nicola on her new position. She has done a great deal for the Society and I am sure EFPA will benefit greatly from her work and advice.
The society will also benefit from her role with EFPA, because it is vital that we maintain and strengthen our links with fellow psychologists across Europe in the coming years.”
EFPA is the representative body for psychologists across Europe and has 38 member associations, representing some 300,000 psychologists.
