The Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme exists to provide improved access to evidence-based psychological therapies for people who require the help of mental health services, particularly those presenting with anxiety disorders and depression.

Central to the delivery of the programme is the IAPT-trained workforce of psychological therapists, comprising two core roles:

  • Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP)
  • High Intensity Practitioner (HI)

Am I eligible?

  • PWP Registration

    Members or Affiliate Subscribers are able to join the register provided they have completed a BPS accredited PWP training programme.

  • HI Practitioner Registration

    Members who have completed accredited IAPT HI training are welcome to apply for entry to the Register. We do not accredit these courses ourselves, but applications can be processed on the basis of completing a BABCP accredited HI training course.

How do I join?

To apply simply complete and return the form below along with the initial payment of £87.

What do I need to do to maintain my registration?

To remain on the register you will need to pay the £36 fee annually, which you’ll be invoiced for each year around the anniversary of your joining.

Every 5-years there will be a random audit of registrants’ CPD.

All registrants will be contacted in advance of this with details of the specific requirements, and those selected for audit will have their CPD records assessed by the Membership Advisory Group (MAG).
