Here you'll find useful links and information about the variety of benefits and resources available to BPS members.
Please note that due to current events we have had to put a temporary hold on accepting/processing Disclosure and Barring Service checks and applications to the Protecting Vulnerable Groups scheme.
Please do not post your documents to the society at this time as we will be unable to send these back to you at this point.
We will update this information when this situation changes.
Disclosure and Barring Service checks
If you are a member, and are self-employed or taking one of our Society Qualifications, the simplest way to obtain a DBS check is through the BPS.
To be eligible for a Disclosure and Barring Service Check the role must fall within the DBS definitions of Regulated Activity and the employment decision must be made in England or Wales.
You can apply for either a Standard (£65) or Enhanced (£85) check.
Please note: if you require this check for enrolment on a Society Qualification then you will need to undertake an Enhanced Check.
The DBS check is an online application. For guidance please consult the documents below:
Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme
To be eligible for this scheme you must be working in Scotland and undertaking Regulated Activity with children and/or adults.
We are able to process applications for both new and existing members of the PVG Scheme (£85).
The PVG Scheme requires you to complete a paper application form.
Please email [email protected] for a copy of this form.
Please provide your membership details and confirm if you are already a member of the PVG Scheme.
If you are not a current member but would like to apply for one of these checks through the society, you will need to first join the BPS.
