DCP Reflective Practice & Wellbeing Sessions
Wellbeing Matters: Reflective Space Groups
Physician heal thyself- this has a particular meaning in the current context. The pandemic has provided many opportunities but has stretched our resources in a number of ways. We know that working in an uncertain environment within the context of increased infection rates, death tolls, anxieties around effectiveness of vaccination and ongoing locked down in winter months is slowly depleting wellbeing of many.
Looking after one’s mental health and wellbeing at work is vital. Whilst embracing these uncertain and unprecedented times can feel hard, there are aspects, which we can learn from our own experiences. What seems important is to take the message forward assertively and hold each other in mind, connect, support and share learning alongside continuing to step up to the new reality. We acknowledge that this is likely to require a professional re-set to adjust to the new normal as well as to practice what we advocate about the importance of wellbeing in our support for others.
The DCP is developing a members wellbeing & support strategy to respond to the fast shifting horizons to support its members. Following on from the positive feedback from the Wellbeing Meetings last year, we are rolling the next series. The sessions are aimed at providing an opportunity to talk in a supportive environment about the current situation from our different roles and perspectives and consider what these new circumstances means for us personally, socially and professionally
