The British Psychological Society is looking to appoint a Chair of its newly created Membership Board which sits at the heart of the society.

This is an exciting time in our development as we are embarking on a major change programme designed to modernise the society and ensure that our membership benefits and services for each grade of membership are relevant and attractive.

The creation of a new Membership Board provides opportunities to play an active role in this.

The board will act as a strategic advisory board, focussing on member strategies and initiatives, and will also plays a role in shaping the member conduct rules and contributing to associated governance arrangements.

The Chair of the Board will also serve as a Trustee of the BPS, playing a key part in the overall strategy and direction of the society and of its newly created Membership Board.

Applications are invited from members who:

  • Have experience of membership of a board /committee of the Society
  • Have the proven skills to lead and drive forward the work of this key board
  • Are able to work in partnership strategically
  • Wish to be involved in improving how the society meets the needs of its members and its commitment to high standards of professional and ethics
  • Possess the ability to think strategically about membership of the society in the light of the rapid development and diversification of the discipline and the growing psychological therapies workforce
