Motivational interviewing (MI) is an approach originally developed within the field of addictive behaviour.

It is a therapeutic approach based on person-centred counselling, which addresses ambivalence about change and aims to promote autonomy and self-confidence amongst clients.

The approach is now used across disciplines including health and social care, education, probation and sport

Our speaker, Cathy Atkinson, is a member of the Manchester Motivational Interviewing Network, and more information about the approach can be found at www.mmin.co.uk
