WELCOME TO THE FPOP CONFERENCE

The Faculty for the Psychology of Older People (FPOP) holds a two day national conference each year to promote developments in the work of older people’s and dementia services.

The goal is to bring together practitioners and interested partners from across the United Kingdom and beyond to share areas of good practice and novel developments, and promote the importance of a psychologically informed approach in working with older adults.

This year’s conference will be hosted by the Northern Ireland branch of FPOP and will be a virtual event. The theme is ‘Ageing in Challenging Times’.

2020 was the 40th anniversary of PSIGE/FPOP but the celebrations had to be postponed as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic so we plan to celebrate 40 years + 1 this year and it promises to be a great event.

In addition to welcoming people who are relatively new to working with older people, we are looking forward to seeing colleagues who have played an influential role in PSIGE/FPOP in the last 4 decades and colleagues who have made a significant impact on the wellbeing of older people through their leadership, clinical and research contributions.

FPOP has a reputation for being an inclusive group; practitioners of all backgrounds, service user and care partners are invited to be involved in planning, presenting and attending the conference.

Submissions are invited from colleagues and partners across the spectrum of working with older people in the public, voluntary and community sector. We aim to provide a varied programme that will be useful to all who have an interest in working psychologically with older people, but also to appeal to those who work across the life span.

Best regards

FPOP 2020 Conference Committee
