The Offender Health & Forensic Outreach Service within Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust offers support, advice and mental health in-reach to a number of services and teams within the Criminal Justice System across Northern England. Working with partnership agencies of the Police, Prison and Probation services, TEWV staff provide consultation and psychological, nursing, medical and allied health interventions to improve the experience of service users that ultimately help them to lead safer, less harmful and healthier lives.
Within the largest mental health provider in the country, the Offender Health & Forensic Outreach Service work with agencies across the whole criminal justice pathway – from youth offending teams, police liaison and diversion, court liaison, adult outreach, prison in-reach and services within the Offender Personality Disorder Programme, including treatment services and consultation. Significance is placed on staff wellbeing and creation of a workforce with the appropriate skills, confidence and attitude needed to improve the psychological health of those who come into contact with the criminal justice system.

The Forensic Mental Health and Learning Disability Psychology Services based at Ridgeway, Roseberry Park Hospital within Tees Esk and Wear Valley NHS Trust, offer highly specialist psychological assessments, formulations and evidence based treatment to men and women within the medium and low secure wards. The services assess and treat mental disorder, reduce the risk of harm that the individual may exhibit to others and support recovery of psychological health.
The overarching treatment ethos across the services is based upon principles of relational awareness, compassionate care and recovery. Working in partnership with other psychiatry, nursing and allied health professional disciplines, these principles guide the provision of psychologically informed care and consultation through staff training, supervision and facilitation of reflective practice.
