The workshop will be delivered via the web but we will endeavour to make it as interactive as possible.

The webinar will:

  • Introduce the HBCCF; how it was developed, its content and its current and potential uses.
  • Enable attendees to begin to work with the HBCCF to experience some of its current uses, e.g.: Assess staff competence to deliver behaviour change interventions (for themselves or others)
  • Identify training needs of themselves &/or others
  • Develop competency based job descriptions
  • Identify the required content for training courses to skill staff to deliver behaviour change interventions. Attendees will also have the opportunity to discuss and take part in an activity to examine how and whether the HBCCF might be developed and progressed.

Please note, this webinar will not be recorded. To avoid disappointment please only book a place if you are able to attend the live webinar.

Learning outcomes

• To understand the need for the HBCCF

• To understand the content of the HBCCF

• To understand the range of uses for the HBCCF

• To have experience of the use of the HBCCF

Speakers

Prof. Diane Dixon leads the Aberdeen Health Psychology Group and Prof. Marie Johnston is Emeritus Professor with the Group. Diane is a past Chair of the Division of Health Psychology-Scotland. Marie established the Division. Both have an interest in interventions to improve the delivery of healthcare. Whilst on secondment to the Health Directorates in the Scottish Government they developed a Health Behaviour Change Competency Framework (HBCCF). The HBCCF describes the competencies needed to deliver face-to-face behaviour change interventions. It also describes a theory based method for making BCTs more readily available for use by non-specialists. This workshop is based on the HBCCF.
