12-14 September 2018, Crowne Plaza Liverpool City Centre
Postgraduate Student Bursaries
Bursaries are available for current postgraduate students who are members of the Developmental Section. (Note, that if you are not already a section member, you can join the BPS as a Graduate member (Rule 15 ii.) for £55 and £5 to become a student member of the Section). For more information on joining the BPS and the section, click here. The Developmental Section are offering a limited number of bursaries to student members of the section to attend the Section’s Annual Conference in Liverpool on 12-14 September.
Bursaries meet the cost of the registration fee (£174.60). All applicants must register for the conference as normal, and payments will be made directly to successful applicants after their registration is completed.
Applications are welcome until the closing date of 13th July 2018. If you are awarded a bursary you must accept the bursary and register for the conference by the 31st July. Additionally, you may be asked to produce a brief piece for the Developmental Section newsletter, the Developmental Psychology Forum. You will be given support from one of our editors and your work will go through usual review procedures.
The award of bursaries is dependent on funds available, and the committee reserves the right not to make bursary awards should no suitable candidates be found.
Applications should be made in the form of a 150 word statement, attached to your email as a word document, details of who to send the application to are listed below. The statement should include a brief explanation of why a bursary is needed (e.g., because a postgraduate student is not funded by a research council or their institution), why the applicant should be awarded a bursary, and how she or he will benefit from attending the conference.
Late applications will not be accepted and only the first 150 words of any statements that exceed the word limits will be considered. Applications will be assessed by a sub-committee of the BPS Developmental Committee. Applications that make a strong case for need and the benefits of attendance will be funded, subject to the funds available.
Applications should be sent by email to the Honorary Secretary of the Developmental Section, Dr. Sarah Rose ([email protected].ac.uk ).
