Parliamentary seminars

The Society has the evidence-based knowledge and expertise to support policymakers who want to learn more about how psychology can shape society.

We sponsor seminars for parliamentarians to encourage lively discussions on topics of current concern. Some events are planned to coincide with the publication of POSTnotes. These are briefings produced by the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST).

Other events are organised together with all-party Parliamentary groups. These special interest groups bring together parliamentary and external audiences to discuss issues such as autism, AIDS, refugees and mental health.

November 2010: Seminar on Health of Military Personnel

The Society sponsored a parliamentary seminar with POST on the Health of Military Personnel chaired by James Arbuthnot MP, chair of the Commons Defence Select Committee.The seminar discussed how the latest research can be used to improve the physical and mental health of current and former service personnel.
