Ethics & Standards

Ethics is central to everything we do whether in research or practice.

The Society provides helpful guidelines for researchers, teachers and practitioners. This includes the Code of Ethics and Conduct (August 2009), plus other policy documents and guidelines.

Query submission notes

  • If you are a member of the Society include your membership number in all enquiries.
  • Where possible, the Society will respond to enquiries within three working days. If your enquiry is very complex the response may take longer. We will let you know by email if this is likely.

Important legal information

The Society cannot give legal advice or provide practical support to members who have been complained about. For that reason, the Society strongly recommends that members consider taking out professional indemnity insurance.
