Guidelines for Assessment of the PhD in Psychology

Following review in 2008, the third edition of the Guidelines are now available. The review was undertaken to ensure that the guidance provided is up to date and consistent with current standard University practices.

There are sections on the purpose of the assessment of a PhD, selection of examiners, preparation for the examination, assessing written submissions, the oral examination, external factors to consider, pay and terms of service of examiners, appeals, and assessment of other components of research training.

The Guidelines are intended as recommendations for best practice, they are in no way binding on institutions or individuals.
