Spearman Medal

The call for nominations for the 2010 award is now closed.

The Research Board invites nominations for the Spearman Medal 2010 in recognition of outstanding published work in Psychology.

Criteria:

• The work must have been carried out by the candidate no more than 8 years following the completion of a PhD (although research undertaken during the PhD can be taken into account) and should represent a significant body of research output.
  
• The Selection Committee will look for evidence of the theoretical contributions made; the originality of the research (including innovation in the experimental methods or techniques used); and the impact of the research findings.
  
• Candidates need not be members of the Society, but they must be resident in the UK.

Nomination:

• Proposers must send a detailed nomination statement outlining the candidates contribution to psychology, together with a copy of the candidates current full CV. Nominators are requested to suggest three potential Assessors who have expertise within the research area of the nominee - whom the award committee MAY approach for an assessment of the nominee's work. The potential Assessors should not be from the same institution as, or have current collaborations with, the nominee. The nomination of potential Assessors does not guarantee that they will be contacted.
  
• Proposers must also send 14 copies of what they judge to be the candidates 2 most outstanding and significant publications to date.
  
• Nominations should be sent to the Chair of the Board c/o Dr Lisa Morrison Coulthard at the Leicester Office.

Deadline: The deadline for nominations is 8 January 2010.

Award: Recipients are invited to deliver the Spearman Medal Lecture at the Society's Annual Conference, at which they will be presented with the Medal and a commemorative certificate.
