Message from the President

Welcome to the British Psychological Society website. The British Psychological Society is a learned and professional body, which represents psychology and psychologists in the UK.

We have a worldwide reputation for our work in advancing the science of psychology, maintaining very high standards of training and practice for psychologists, as well as communicating knowledge about the discipline to wider audiences. I feel privileged to be part of such an influential and renowned body.

Psychologists contribute to many areas of life through scientific research and professional practice, including health and well-being, business, sport, education, child development, policing and the legal system.

Our members matter to us a great deal and we very much welcome new members from all areas of psychology. We provide a range of products and services for our members such as The Psychologist magazine, internationally-renowned peer reviewed journals, the Psychological Testing Centre, the History of Psychology Centre and a range of conferences, training and professional development events, as well as promoting the benefits of psychology to the UK government, businesses, other organisations and the general public.
