Thinking about ethics should pervade all professional activity, whether it be academic / research-based or practice-based. The guidance provided below is aimed at providing support for researchers and academics, and is supplementary to the overarching ethical principles outlined in the
Code of Ethics and Conduct.

- If you are a member of the Society please include your membership number in all enquiries.
- Where possible, the Society will respond to enquiries within three
working days. If your enquiry is very complex the response may take
longer. We will let you know by e-mail if this is likely.
Please note: The Society is only able to offer ethical guidance
and support; it is unable to offer ethical review and approval of
research proposals. For alternative means of obtaining ethical
approval, please refer to the relevant FAQ.

Please note that the Society cannot give legal advice or provide
practical support to members who have been complained about. For that
reason, the Society strongly recommentds that members consider taking
out professional indemnity insurance.
