Getting in Touch with Psychologists

If you feel you need to speak to a psychologist because of a mental health problem you should visit your General Practitioner (GP) in the first instance. However, psychologists also deal with other issues and you can get in touch with qualified psychologists via the Directory of Chartered Psychologists.

If you are already seeing a psychologist, or would like to know if a person is a practising member of the Society, you can check their details on the Register of Chartered Psychologists.

If you contact a psychologist via either of these routes then you may have to pay a fee to be seen by them privately. The Society does not issue guidance on how much psychologist’s should charge in private practice but many psychologists will alter fees in light of your ability to pay.

Or you may wish to contact the British Psychological Society with other queries.
