The DCP Prequalification Group committee is composed of, and represent, people interested in a career in psychology who have membership of the DCP.
Who are we and what do we do?
We are members of the DCP, who are working towards a career in Clinical Psychology. We aim to include people from diverse geographical locations and routes into the profession on the Committee.
Our members include those who are in pre-training roles (e.g. Support Worker, Graduate Primary Care Mental Health Worker, Assistant Psychologist etc) or in postgraduate study (e.g. IAPT courses, MSc, PhDs etc) and those who are currently trainee clinical psychologists. Our purpose is to ensure that members have a voice within the profession. We gather and distribute information and knowledge on current developments that impact our members.
Copies of the 2010 Alternative Handbook are available to download from the Society's Online Shop
Some examples of our work over the past few years include:

· In the process of developing formal guidelines for setting up assistant psychologist groups.
· Furthermore the committee has also amended the website‘s content
· As a committee we have pulled together to produce the annual alternative handbook which is a valuable resource to potential applicants of clinical psychology courses.
· The introduction of the Pre-Qualification Award, which is to promote and encourage the contribution of Pre-Doctoral clinical work and research to developments in clinical practice
· Reviewing and commenting on drafts of the proposed
