Division of Sport and Exercise Psychology

The Division of Sport and Exercise Psychology represents the interests of psychologists working in sport and exercise settings and aims to further the development of sport and exercise psychology. It draws its membership from a broad range of psychologists including those working in academic settings and professional practice. The Division was formed in 2004 in response to the increase in academic status and public recognition of sport and exercise psychology and ensures that members who practise and offer services within sport and exercise psychology are qualified and trained according to the Charter, Statutes and Rules of The British Psychological Society.

PsyPAG ANNUAL CONFERENCE

The Psychology Postgraduate Affairs Group (PsyPAG) will hold their annual conference on the 29th to 31st July 2009, at the School of Psychology, Cardiff University. The conference is a place for all psychology postgraduates to present and discuss their work in a supportive environment. The conference is open to all postgraduate students, whatever their stage of research, from Masters students to final year PhD students, all are welcome. Included in this year’s programme are two Sport and Exercise Psychology symposium; ‘the athlete as a whole’ and ‘the why’s and why not’s of exercise’. The aim of the symposium is to showcase the outstanding and diverse nature of postgraduate research within sport and exercise psychology in the UK. We are still looking for postgraduate speakers for the symposium so please have a look at the programme and get in touch (sarah.wood@northumbria.ac.uk) if you would like to be involved.
