Psychology Network student essay award 2010
Every year the Psychology Network runs a student essay award in which we ask students to tell us about an aspect of their psychology learning and teaching experience. The 2010 award is now open. To enter, simply send us an essay telling us:
How, and why, should psychology staff provide feedback on your academic performance?
Essays should be no more than 1000 words, and the deadline for submission is Friday, 19 March, 2010.
The award is open to anyone studying psychology at any level in any higher education institution in the UK. International students studying at a UK institution are more than welcome to enter. However, UK or non-UK students studying at institutions outside of the UK are unfortunately not eligible for the award.
The winner of the award receives £250, and their winning essay is published newsletter, and (usually) in the BPS monthly magazine The Psychologist. The winner will also be invited to attend (all expenses paid) the Higher Education Academy's annual conference at the University of Hertfordshire from 22 - 23 June, 2010.

Call for Expressions of Interest
"Collaborative Sport & Exercise Science" Symposium
BASES Student Conference 2010, Aberystwyth University, March 31st - April 1st
Have you conducted research with investigators from multiple institutions? Maybe you have experience of embarking on a period of applied work alongside scientists from other disciplines? Are your studies or practice part-funded by more than one organisation or body? However your sport or exercise science endeavours are, or have been, collaborative, you will have a story to share with delegates at this year’s BASES Student Conference. Indeed, these activities may have arisen from a discussion you had with a fellow delegate at such a conference!
We are looking to host a symposium on the theme of "Collaborative Sport & Exercise Science," and this is a request for proposals or ideas on how you may be able to contribute to this event. It is hoped that this opportunity will appeal to undergraduate and postgraduate students, post-doctoral researchers and early-career academics, and neophyte and seasoned applied practitioners alike; in short, any sport or exercise scientist (or group) that has experience we can all learn from. Invited speakers would be asked to present for 15 or 20 minutes, with a further 5 or 10 minutes allotted for questions from the audience (these details TBC). In addition, there will be time at the end of the session for further open discussion. Funding is being sought that will allow us to award/offer a small cash prize to the chosen speakers; indeed, this will make the symposium a sponsored session. But if it is not possible to secure monetary recompense, the public esteem of presenting at an invited symposium is reward enough!
Please do not hesitate to contact the organiser, Simon Payne ( sip06@aber.ac.uk), in the Department of Sport & Exercise Science at Aberystwyth University, with your proposal or for more information. Please note: submitted abstracts detailing the information you wish to present will be refereed to assess their suitability for inclusion in the symposium. Therefore, abstracts should be submitted by email to Simon, and not electronically on the conference website, by no later than February 12th 2010.
