The Bulletin of the Faculty of People with Intellectual Disabilities

The Bulletin of the Faculty for People with Intellectual Disabilities is published three times a year. It aims to keep clinical psychologists working in the field of intellectual (learning) disability informed about: 

  • Updates on Faculty and other relevant BPS activities
  • Updates on service provision and legislation related to people with intellectual disabilities, both at national and regional level
  • Innovative practice and latest research
  • CPD/Forthcoming events and reports on events sponsored by the Faculty that have taken place

The Bulletin also provides a means for clinical psychologists, trainees and assistants to make contact with colleagues working with similar issues or projects. The editorial group are happy to consider suggestions for special issues.

Information for contributors

Who are the contributors?
Clinical psychologists, trainees, assistant psychologists, researchers and academics working with people with intellectual disabilities. The Bulletin has a wide readership, and as such is an ideal vehicle for promoting discussion and reporting research. Trainees and assistants as well as qualified clinicians new to publishing their work are likely to find the Bulletin a useful medium for raising their profile and bringing their work to the attention of others.

What are the criteria for publication?
Contributions are welcome on any topic relating to clinical psychology and the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. The editorial team may also commission papers. The length of papers can be anything from a short report of 500 words, through to a substantial research feature of up to 4,000 words including references and tables. The title page of your submission should clearly state the title, full author details, and the category your contribution falls within (e.g. Updates, Innovative Practice, Research Article, CPD). A brief summary paragraph giving an over of the article is welcome – a formal abstract is not required. For referencing both in the text and the reference list authors should follow guidelines issued by the APA (6th ed.): http://www.apastyle.org/
