EuroPsy
The Society has been approved by the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA) to be the National Awarding Committee for the European Certificate in Psychology Certificate (EuroPsy).
EuroPsy is the European qualification standard for psychologists and is awarded by 35 countries across the continent.
What are the benefits of EuroPsy?
Although EuroPsy does not represent a license to practise, it does:
- compliment national standards and helps the public to identify whether a psychologist has achieved a high level of psychology knowledge and skills
- aim to facilitate the mobility of qualified professionals across Europe
- entitles psychologists who meet the criteria to be entered onto a register and receive a certificate confirming them as a EuroPsy registered psychologist.
How do I become a EuroPsy registered psychologist?
There are two routes to become a EuroPsy registered psychologist. Both routes require you to be either a Chartered Psychologist or registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist:
- Standard Route: requires you to have completed a current route to Chartered Status or HCPC registration. You will need to provide evidence of supervised practice.
- Transitional Route: open until July 2013, it is available to psychologists who qualified for Chartered Status or HCPC registration under the grandparenting criteria. Applicants must provide evidence of CPD that meets EFPA's requirements.

Is there a renewal process?
Yes. After 7 years you will need to apply to renew your EuroPsy registration. To renew you will need to demonstrate maintenance of your professional skills and CPD in accordance with EFPA's requirements.
Can I be removed from the Register?
Yes. You can be removed for:
- breaching the Society’s Member Conduct Rules or as a result of fitness to practice proceedings brought by the HCPC
- failing to renew your Society Membership or HCPC registration
- failing to apply to renew your EuroPsy registration after 7 years
- Applying to renew your EuroPsy registration, but it being unsuccessful.
