WHO and IUPsyS form network of mental health professionals

The World Health Organization's (WHO) department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse is putting together an international network of mental health professionals to help inform the development of how mental and behavioural disorders are classified.

The WHO is working with the International Union of Psychological Science (IUPsyS) to ensure a strong representation of psychology professionals in the revision process.

Psychology professionals are being invited by the WHO to register for the new Global Clinical Practice Network, encouraging further input to ensure the classification method of mental and behavioural disorders is developed into a system that is clinically useful, accurate and easy to use.

Those who choose to contribute may be asked to review materials, provide feedback about ideas and concepts under review at the WHO, while also participating in specific field studies.

Such participation will be tailored to the individual's own professional interests and areas of expertise.
