Social sciences award for psychologist
A University of Stirling Professor of Psychology has received a prestigious social sciences prize. Professor Ronan O'Carroll was handed the award of Academician of the Academy of Social Sciences following a nomination by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
Such recognition has been bestowed on Professor O'Carroll - who is President of the UK Society for Behavioural Medicine - after BPS peer-reviewed both the standing and impact of his work in the field of health psychology.
He stated: "I am honoured to receive this prestigious award from the Academy and I'm grateful that the work we've been carrying out here at Stirling has been recognised."
Professor O'Carroll's current area of study relates to patient adherence to medication, while he is also keen to boost registration numbers on the UK Organ Donor Register.
He added the presentation of this award might hopefully go some way to highlighting just how important behavioural medicine research is in the UK.
