Simon Proudlock wins Society award for his Solution Focused Therapy groupwork

A Berkshire psychologist has been named as the recipient of the British Psychological Society's Division of Counselling Psychology Practice Prize for his work relating to Solution Focused Therapy in a group situation.

Simon Proudlock, a Chartered Psychologist and Health & Care Professions Council Registered Counselling Psychologist, was announced as the winner at the Society's annual general meeting.

Mr Proudlock, Principal Psychologist in the Urgent Care team for Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, implemented a six-week solution focused group for clients in secondary care, with the results appearing in the Counselling Psychology Review.

This was followed by the publication of further work looking at relationships, anger, crisis management and alcohol abuse, which was reviewed in Therapy Today.

Mr Proudlock said he hopes winning the award will lead to a more overlooked therapy in Solution Focused Therapy coming to the fore, adding: "I feel honoured to have been awarded the Practice Prize and, if I'm honest, still a little shocked to have won."
