Psychologist joins Risk Management Authority

A Chartered Psychologist has been appointed to the Risk Management Authority, a Scottish public body concerned with the assessment of offenders whose liberty presents a risk to the public.

Emcee Chekwas is a consultant forensic psychologist currently in independent practice providing expert witness testimony to criminal, civil and family courts. He has many years of experience in assessments, management and the rehabilitation of a wide range of offenders.

A media release from the Scottish Government says:

“Mr Chekwas brings to the RMA a wealth of experience from six years as Therapy Manger of a 40-bed Therapeutic Community concentrating on the psychological rehabilitation of medium to high risk offenders and four years experience as Head of Psychological Therapies and Consultant for an Independent Therapeutic School for children and young people aged seven to 16.”

The appointment is for five years and runs from 1 September 2011.
