An OBE for Professor Dianne Berry
Professor Dianne Berry, a Fellow of the British Psychological Society and Director of Postgraduate Research Studies and Researcher Development at the University of Reading, received an OBE for services to scientific research in the 2012 New Year Honours list.
In her work for the Society Professor Berry chaired the Scientific Affairs Board for six years and was a member of the Standing Conference Committee for four. She was also chair of the Joint Committee for Resources in Higher Education and a member of Council and the Board of Trustees.
Professor Berry is a member of the Higher Education Funding Council for England Research and Innovation Strategic Advisory Committee. The committee's role is to provide advice and guidance to the HEFCE Board on the development and implementation of policies in the area of research. She also chairs the Funding Council's REF Equality & Diversity Panel.
Joining the University of Reading as a lecturer in Psychology, she became Professor in 1997. She is currently Director of Postgraduate Studies and Researcher Development. She has previously held the posts of Dean of Social Sciences and Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research.
Professor Berry told us: "I am absolutely delighted with the award, and feel very honoured that my contributions have been recognised in this way. I am very grateful to the many people in the Society who have supported me over the years."
