NHS bosses applaud psychology project
Senior national NHS executives have applauded a psychology project based on training children's services staff. Tim Atkin, Consultant Clinical Psychologist for Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and a Member of the British Psychological Society, was one of five psychologists included in a group of 16 experts to receive a standing ovation for their work, which was part of a national Clinical Leadership Fellow Programme, Cumbria 24 reports.
Dr Melinda Rees, another Member of the Society, was also involved in the work presented to the NHS Leadership Academy.
Mr Atkin said: "The whole experience has been amazing. Although the programme has been challenging it has been incredibly fun and valuable."
He explained the project centred on a training strategy for children's services staff in Cumbria, adding the initiative has received excellent feedback.
Mr Atkin will be making another presentation of the work - developing clinical leadership skills as child clinical psychologists - at the Society's Division of Clinical Psychology Faculty for Children and Young People's Annual Conference, which is being held in Manchester next week.
